- Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Steam or boil the peeled and cubed sweet potatoes until fork-tender, about 10 to 12 minutes. Drain thoroughly and mash until completely smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato, egg, almond flour, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is uniform and well incorporated.
- Spread the sweet potato mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping it into a 12-inch round about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick, smoothing the surface evenly.
- Bake the crust for 20 to 22 minutes until firm and lightly golden on the edges.
- While the crust bakes, gently warm the honey with chili flakes or hot sauce and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Remove the crust from the oven. Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the surface, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Layer on the sliced pepperoni and add red onion and bell pepper if desired.
- Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are crisp.
- Drizzle the hot honey generously over the finished pizza. Top with fresh basil leaves and additional crushed red pepper to taste. Slice into wedges and serve immediately.
