Crispy Homemade Air Fryer Fries (Printable Version)

Crispy air-fryer fries: soaked, lightly oiled, and seasoned for golden crunch in 35 minutes.

# What You Need:

→ Potatoes

01 - 4 large russet potatoes

→ Seasoning & Oil

02 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 1 teaspoon sea salt
04 - 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
05 - 0.5 teaspoon paprika, optional
06 - 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder, optional

# How To Make It:

01 - Wash and optionally peel the russet potatoes. Cut them lengthwise into evenly sized 1/4-inch thick fries.
02 - Place potato sticks in a bowl of cold water and soak for 30 minutes to extract excess starch.
03 - Drain potatoes and thoroughly pat dry using clean kitchen towels to remove moisture.
04 - Transfer dried fries to a large mixing bowl. Add olive oil, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Toss until all fries are evenly coated.
05 - Set air fryer to 380°F and preheat for 3 minutes.
06 - Layer the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. If necessary, cook in batches to prevent overcrowding.
07 - Cook for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway to ensure even browning, until fries are crisp and golden.
08 - Sprinkle with additional salt if desired and serve immediately while hot.

# Helpful Hints:

01 -
  • They deliver all the crunch you crave but won’t leave your kitchen smelling like a fast food joint.
  • Once you nail the soaking step, you’ll be making these fries on autopilot for every game night or burger craving.
02 -
  • Skipping the soak means limper fries—I learned the hard way by rushing once and biting into disappointment.
  • Letting the fries sit wet before air frying guarantees steamed, pale fries instead of crisp, golden ones.
03 -
  • Let fries rest just one minute post-frying—they firm up for next-level crunch but stay steamy inside.
  • A sprinkle of vinegar right before serving is my secret for extra zip.
